An online roulette strategy is a strategy used to play roulette for real money online such as the 20p roulette game from Inspired Gaming. Roulette is a casino game that was named after the French word for "little wheel". It is a game where players place their bets on numbers on the wheel. The numbers of the wheel are either red or black, and the green one is zero. It has two forms of numbers: lower numbers 1-18 and higher numbers 19-36. The first roulette game was devised in the 18th century in France and historians believe the primitive roulette wheel was introduced by Blaise Pascal in the 17th century. Today's roulette is a hybrid of the gaming wheel, invented in 1720, and the Italian game Bibiri. It is the 2nd most popular casino game, following slot machines. Additionally, it's easy to learn and play.

As a game of chance, roulette allows players to use tactics during gaming in order to improve their winning odds since most players tend to play for real cash. To become a good roulette gamer, one has to know what to do to gain profits. To win, players need to have a combination of a lucky day and good practice. Strategies are used to reduce the chances of great losses more than increasing the winning chances. The progressive roulette strategy remains among the oldest and most popular strategies when playing games of luck. It is recommended that you try several rounds of roulette on free roulette before using real money and bearing in mind that strategies do not guarantee wins. Read on to find out the different strategic options.

Martingale System and Reverse Martingale Strategy

One of the most popular betting systems used for roulette is undoubtedly the Martingale system. This is one of the easier systems to learn when playing roulette online, though it does encompass a big betting range meaning you'll need a decent bankroll to get started.

In order to get the most from this, it's best to use the Martingale roulette strategy on classic roulette with high maximum bets on outside bets like red/black or odd/even. It's also recommended that you start with small bets. The reason for this is that the Martingale system works by doubling your bet on every loss. When you have regular wins, the bet stays the same, a loss it's doubled and a subsequent win, start back at the original small bet.

Complimenting the Martingale is the Reverse Martingale strategy. This follows the same progressive betting strategy, just in the opposite direction. Instead of raising your bet on a loss, you will raise it on a win instead, thus captialising on the player win streaks you might have. As with the Martingale though, you will need a lot of patience for this one to pay off. It's not going to pay off quickly either, which is again why it's recommended that you start with small bets. For the best odds, playing a European or French Wheel with the La Partage rule in effect will also help to keep the house edge below 2.70% and therefore make it easier to score some wins.

Fibonacci Strategy

The Fibonacci Strategy is based on that famous string of numbers, recorded in use from as far back as 200BC. The use of this sequence in the form of a betting strategy is much earlier, however. The sequence is simply the sum of the two numbers that came before. This sequence has now been adapted for use in roulette, particularly by players with big bankrolls.

This strategy is best used on even money bets. When you lose a bet, your next bet will be the sum of the two previous bets you have place. On a win, go down two numbers and start again. Progress can be slow, but does save on spending large amounts of money while playing.

Labouchere Strategy

The Labouchere Strategy is another progressive betting strategy rather than a flat betting strategy. This option moves towards a predetermined win goal. Players just need to select the amount of money they would like to win. This number needs to be divided into smaller numbers. With each bet made, the players should aim to win a portion of the final desired win total.

This is one of the trickier methods to visualise so it can be very helpful to write down. If you win with that bet, you can cross those numbers off, but if you lose the numbers will need to be readded to the list in order to hit your prize money goal. Generally, this option is only really useful for indicating when to stop playing.

James Bond Strategy

This strategy does require one of the bigger bankrolls in order to work as this is not a low-risk roulette system. Ideally, you will have £200 as a starting pot which you can then split across three different bets. This will be split as £140 on the high numbers, fifty for 13-18 and ten on zero. This can be proportionally increased or decreased depending on your budget, but purists opt for £200. It covers more numbers than any other strategy thus increasing the chances of winning.

Similar to the Martingale system, you will double your bet on a loss, continuing this until a win. However, this does require a substantial bankroll as you'll need to cover potential long losing streaks.

James Bond Strategy

D'Alembert roulette Strategy

The final betting strategy is the D'Alembert strategy. This is actually one of the lower risk options out there and is a great way to get yourself into the game. It's perfect for ither newcomers, those who have limited bankrolls, or simply if you're a little more cautious when you come to play. It does require patients though, as the increments you will increase, or decrease, your bankroll are rather small. The way this works is that you choose the amount you would like to make a profit on each bet and start by placing a low bet on one of the even money or outside bets such as red/black or odd/even. If you win, you then decrease that bet by the profit increment you have set out for yourself.

If however, you lose, then you will need to increase your next bet by the same increment. This means it's very easy to implement but does mean that you will have to adjust the bet each time you take a turn at betting. It will also only give you a small profit each time which is why such patience is required. The good thing though, is that you're not going to go bankrupt very quickly, but neither are you going to hit a massive jackpot that enables you to call it a night. Generally, this is not the best system to choose if you are looking to make some money or only have a short time in which to play.

Summing Up Real Money Roulette Strategy

Roulette is one of the more popular table games throughout the world, due, mainly to the fact that it offers simple gameplay and a decent chance of winning without the need to add too much skill. For many players, the simple betting on luck is enough, but others like to see if they can improve their luck in someway, and that's where the betting systems come in.

Each betting system has its own pros and cons as has been outlined here. While some will need large bankrolls, others will not. And though each has the chance to help you win big, there's no guarantee - remember, this is all about luck at the end of the day, so there's no sure way of winning.
